Third phase report of two field clinics for flood affectees in Khairpur

qater red crescent-8Khairpur: PIMA has established two field clinics in collaboration with Qatar Red Crescent (QRC), an Arab NGO in two selected areas of district Khairpur Tharimir Wah and Faiz Gunj-Akri Chudegi. The field clinics have provided health services to the affected communities in both areas from October 8th 2011 to 23rd April 2012. The central office has also been established in Sukkur for field staff support and other activities. Initially the project duration was 2 months but after this period this project was extend two times. Quality medicines to provide relief to the affected communities have been procured by the procurement committees of PIMA volunteers. Third Phase report from 24th February 2012 to 23rd April 2012 as below

Signing of MOU: The MOU between the PIMA and Qatar Red Crescent signed on 22nd of December.

Hiring of Project Staff: The orientation session with the field staff conducted by Dr. Abdul Aziz Memon on 22nd of February 2012, in which he has informed about the Continuation of project and project related things along with signing of contract.

Field Clinics and Central Office: For third phase of Project in continuation of clinics a number of meetings with local communities and the government officials, two field static clinics continued in two selected talukas, (Badly rain affected) Tharimir Wah and Faiz Gunj-Akri Chudegi of district Khairpur, where health services to the affected communities in both areas from October 8th 2011 are being provided. The central office established in Sukkur for field staff support and other activities. The details of the Central office and field clinics given below;

  • Central Operation Office: Bungalow # B-29, Hamdard Society, Airport Road Sukkur.
  • Field static Clinic-I: Taluka Hospital, Thari Mir Wah, District Khairpur.
  • Field static Clinic-II: Dr. Ghulam Shabir Clinic, Main Akri Chow-Dagi, Taluka Faiz Gunj, District Khairpur.

Hiring of Vehicles: Two Hi-ace vans (JF-2024 and BMA-256) hired on monthly rental basis for two clinics. Vehicles used for clinic and staff mobility on daily basis.

Procurement of Medicines/Medical & other Equipment and Furniture: Quality medicines provided to the affected communities. From 24th February,2012 to 23rd April, 2012 the medicines are being utilized/given for the affected communities.

Health & Hygiene Session: The health and hygiene promotion staff hired, and a refresher training session on health & hygiene promotion arranged at central office Sukkur. In which skilled and qualified persons have trained them. Health promoters trained the persons by using Flip Charts and Posters during hygiene sessions. Following topics tried to cover during the activity

  • Hand Washing Practices on critical timings.
  • Safe Storage and keeping of drinking water.
  • Personal Hygiene.
  • Safe Disposal of human excreta.

Report of hygiene promotion activity submitted on daily and weekly basis through reporting formats. Our hygiene promoters conducted the health & hygiene sessions with effected communities during specified period. In two months, total 4296 persons trained.

DEWS Report: From the day one we are collecting the DEWS data from the field clinics and after compilation of the data into computer the daily progress (DEWS report) have also being shared with the concern officials of the QRC’s. Total OPD for the two months of project is 14972. The two monthly DEWS report for both clinics given below;

Malaria, Diabetes & Pneumonia report: Malaria, diabetes and pneumonia report conducted on daily basis through following format. In all over the 2 months we have conducted 863 tests of malaria, 333 of sugar tests and 252 patients have been nebulizer. Two-month combine report is as bellow;
