PIMA Sindh Biennial Convention 2025 Highlights Scientific & Thematic Discussions

The 19th Biennial Convention of PIMA Sindh was held at IBA Sukkur on February 22-23, 2025. Doctors from across the province participated and benefited from the thematic and scientific sessions. The oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected president and cabinet was also part of the program.
The convention commenced with an inaugural session featuring distinguished guests. Prof. Atif Hafeez Siddiqui, Central President PIMA, was the chief guest, while Prof. Altaf Ahmed Sheikh, Principal GMMMC, was the guest of honor.
The session started with remarks by Dr. Abdul Rashid Wahab, President PIMA Sindh. Dr. Muhammad Hashim Qureshi, Former Assistant Professor GMMMC, delivered a thematic talk on “یاایھاالذین آمنو ادخلو فی السلم کافۃ.” Prof. Atif Hafeez Siddiqui shared insights on PIMA’s past, present, and future, while Dr. Ahson Qavi Siddiqui, CEO Sindh Healthcare Commission, gave a thought-provoking talk on quality in healthcare as a shared responsibility.
A panel of experts, including Prof. Sohail Akhtar, Prof. Saleh Muhammad Channa, Prof. Pir Bax Magsi, and Prof. Fasih Ahmad Hashmi, graced the occasion. The session concluded with souvenir presentations by Prof. Atif Hafeez Siddiqui, President PIMA, and Prof. Alam Ibrahim Siddiqui, Chairman of the Convention.
The second day of the convention featured nine scientific talks by leading experts, covering rehabilitation, maternal and child health, diabetes care, cardiology, hematology, polio eradication, hepatitis-C elimination, organ transplant, and trauma management.
Key speakers included Dr. Muhammad Usman Khan on integumentary rehabilitation, Prof. Saifullah Jamro on maternal and child health, Prof. Abdul Basit on diabetes care in Pakistan, Prof. Fawad Farooq on heart failure management, Dr. Zeeshan Hussain on CBC case-based learning, Irshad Ali Sodhar on polio eradication, Prof. Saeed Akhtar on hepatitis-C elimination, Dr. Abdul Wahab Dogar on liver transplant referrals, and Dr. Sijad Ahmad Mahar on acute trauma management.
The session concluded with valuable insights from a panel of healthcare professionals, including Dr. Ahmad Salman Ghauri and Prof. Abdullah Mattaqi. The PIMA Sindh Business Session was moderated by Prof. Sohail Akhtar, the Election Commissioner of PIMA Sindh. During the session, Prof. Abdullah El Muttaqi took the oath as President of PIMA Sindh for the 2025-27 term. He then administered the oath to the 13-member Provincial Cabinet, representing different zones. From the South Zone (Karachi): Dr. Muhammad Aurangzeb Rehbar, Dr. Muhammad Omar Sultan, Dr. Saqib Hussain Ansari, Dr. Shayan Shadmani, and Dr. Zeeshan Hussain Ansari. From the Central Zone: Dr. Abdul Malik Shaikh (Matli), Dr. Aitzaz Ahmed (Hyderabad), and Dr. Mushtaq Nizamani (Matli). From the North Zone: Dr. Ahmed Mujtuba Memon (Sukkur), Dr. Ghayas-us-Shan (Sukkur), Dr. Muhammad Nawaz Mehar (Shikarpur), Dr. Nasrullah Soomro (Jacobabad), and Dr. Noor Ahmed Dayo (Shikarpur).
