Remembering Prof. Ejaz Vohra: A Legacy of Excellence and Dedication

Karachi, 7 February 2025: Pakistan Islamic Medical Association (PIMA) has expressed deep sorrow over the sad demise of Professor Ejaz Vohra, a distinguished physician, academician, and a pivotal mentor to countless doctors, calling him an irreplaceable asset to the medical fraternity as well as to PIMA.

Professor Ejaz Vohra’s services to the field of medicine were truly remarkable. Born in Madras (present-day Chennai), Prof. Ejaz Vohra was a Dow Medical College graduate from the class of 1959. He served as the Director of Postgraduate Studies (Clinical) at Ziauddin Medical University, Principal of Karachi Medical & Dental College, Regional Representative of the Royal College of Physicians (Edinburgh), Editor-in-Chief of the Pakistan Journal of Medical and Dental Sciences, and held many other prestigious positions throughout his illustrious career. He played a key role in PIMA conferences and conventions, generously sharing his wisdom with generations of doctors. Even during his illness, he remained committed to the cause and participated in the recent 27th Biennial Central Convention of PIMA, demonstrating his unwavering dedication.

It is difficult to find someone of his stature. He was truly a “Masiha” by all means and a great proponent of medical ethics. His demise is a great loss not only of medical fraternity but also of humanity. His contributions to PIMA and the medical fraternity will always be remembered.

May Allah grant him the highest ranks in Jannah and provide strength to his family in this difficult time.

Prof. Atif Hafeez Siddiqui
Central President, Pakistan Islamic Medical Association (PIMA)
