Launching ceremony of Central Convention 2020

Islamabad, 17 September 2019: The two-day international convention of PIMA will be held at Jinnah Convention Centre, Islamabad in April 2020, where senior doctors will share cutting edge technologies, high tech skills and recent most guidelines in diagnostics and therapeutics. Plenary and parallel scientific sessions of varied interests will be conducted by experts from all over the world.

A launching ceremony in this regard was held at Margala Hotel Islamabad on Thursday, 12th September 2019. This was presided over by Prof. Muhammad Iqbal Khan; Vice Chancellor Shifa Tameer e Millat University, Islamabad and Chairman of Convention 2020. He said that it would be the 26th Convention under the aegis of Pakistan Islamic Medical Association (PIMA). It would be the largest gathering of health professionals in Pakistan as around 3,000 senior physicians and trainees from all over the country, including 200 delegates from over 30 countries are expected to attend the event. He added that issues pertaining to health of the nation, medical education, health policy and professional ethics would be discussed during the convention.

The theme of the convention is: ھَل جَزَاءُ الاِحسانِ اِلَّا الاِحسان “Could the reward for goodness be anything but goodness?” (Quranic verse)

Scientific sessions would also be held to let the young and practicing health professionals be aware of advances in their respective fields of interest.

Dr. Saeedullah Shah, Chairman Scientific Committee, informed that the convention would not only discuss issues and problems facing doctors but, rather, would focus equally on patients’ issues. “We want doctors to understand that medicine and surgery is their profession and responsibility, and if this responsibility is performed with honesty and dedication it is no less than worship,” he said. Dr. Muhammad Iqbal invited all doctors, medical students and health care professionals to attend this mega event.

Prof. Muhammad Iqbal, ex Principal Rawalpindi Medical College and Prof. Hafeez ur Rehman, Executive Director of Federation of Islamic Medical Associations (FIMA) also addressed at this occasion.
