PIMA Calls for Impartial Investigation into Sahiwal Tragedy and Condemns Undue Victimization of Senior Doctors
Pakistan Islamic Medical Association (PIMA) has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic deaths of 11 children at Sahiwal Teaching Hospital and demanded a thorough investigation into the incident. PIMA also strongly condemned the undue victimization and humiliation of senior doctors in the wake of this event.
In a statement on 14th June 2024, PIMA President Dr. Abdul Aziz Memon said that this incident is extremely regrettable. Immediate and impartial investigations should reveal the true culprits. The government and administrative bodies cannot be absolved of their responsibility. It should not happen that, in an attempt to save themselves, unrelated individuals are held entirely responsible and subjected to humiliation. The government should expose the real culprits.
He further stated that doctors are associated with a sacred profession, dedicated to selfless service without discrimination, and no one has the right to demean them. The doctor community should not be defamed under the pretext of this incident.
