Dengue Prevention Campaign at Peshawar

Peshawar, 19 October 2017: Dengue prevention campaign by Pakistan Islamic Medical Association (PIMA) KPK is ongoing since early October 2017 in affected areas of Peshawar. This activity was initiated with the collaboration of Prime Foundation and appreciated by local town official.

PIMA team of female community mobilizers with a male supervisor makes visits daily at field level to educate households about self-protection & preventing growth of dengue. This is done as a door to door campaign with sessions with the community people.  This team also trained by WASH Cluster on Dengue Prevention and Response with focus on Vector control and surveillance.

To date, the team has visited 304 houses in Jahangirabad, Gulshanabad, Gharibabad, Park Road and University Town. During the campaign, 132 families were identified as dengue suspects, larvae captured and disposed of from 32 houses and 23 houses identified as potential breeding sites. PIMA team also distributed educational material among the community.
