Tribute to covid martyrs by PIMA Karachi

Karachi, September 10, 2023: PIMA Karachi organized a program in memory of the martyrs of COVID’19, at a local club on 10th September 2023. The chief guest of the program was the Caretaker Health Minister of Sindh, Dr. Saad Khalid Niaz.

The program aimed to pay tribute to the doctors and paramedical staff martyred during the COVID pandemic, honor their families, and recognize major hospitals in Karachi that took the lead in facing the pandemic’s challenges. These include Indus Hospital, Jinnah Hospital, NICVD, Civil Hospital, Dow University, Ziauddin University Hospital, and the Expo Center COVID Unit.

Central President of PIMA, Dr. Abdul Aziz Memon, CEO of Indus Hospital and Health Network Dr. Abdul Bari Khan, Dr. Misbahul Aziz, Prof. Sohail Akhtar, and other distinguished health experts graced the occasion with their presence.

In addition to the families of the COVID martyrs, representatives from various major hospitals in Karachi, including Indus Hospital, Jinnah Hospital, NICVD, Civil Hospital, Dow University, Ziauddin University Hospital, and Expo Center COVID Unit, attended the event. The president of Karachi, Professor Dr. Abdullah Muttaqi, commenced the event by welcoming the guests and paying respects to the COVID martyrs.

Dr. Saad Khalid Niaz stated that a fund will soon be established for the families of COVID martyrs, which will assist the needy families. He emphasized the significance of the nursing profession, stating that it will be given utmost priority, and allowances will be increased for them. He further announced the formation of a task force for disaster management as long as he holds office, expressing a commitment to continuous improvement in the health sector.

At the end, the chief guest presented souvenirs to the families of the COVID martyrs and the representative doctors from various hospitals.
