Urgent Demands for Gaza: PIMA Joins Humanitarian Organizations in Press Conference

In a joint press conference held on February 22nd at the National Press Club Islamabad, prominent figures from humanitarian organizations and medical associations voiced urgent demands to address the ongoing crisis in Gaza.

The conference was attended by President of Alkhidmat Foundation, Prof. Hafeez ur Rehman, General Secretary of PIMA, Dr. Iftikhar Burney, and Convenor of Save Gaza Campaign, Mrs. Humaira Tayyaba. They collectively emphasized the pressing need for immediate action to alleviate the suffering in Gaza.

The demands put forward to the Pakistani government during the conference included:

  • Arrangement for the transfer of wounded individuals from Gaza to Pakistan.
  • Establishment of field hospitals near the Rafah border manned by Pakistani doctors.
  • Deployment of medical aid and healthcare workers to Gaza at the governmental level.
  • Ensuring the safety of Gaza’s hospitals, patients, and medical staff.
  • Revocation of licenses of doctors who support Israeli attacks on Gaza by international bodies.
  • Issuance of robust statements by the Pakistani government and relevant organizations condemning the injustices in Gaza.
  • Rigorous protests against the killing and abduction of medical personnel.
  • Pressure on the Egyptian government to open the Rafah border and expedite the establishment of field hospitals nearby.

The speakers stressed the critical importance of immediate action to address the escalating humanitarian crisis in Gaza and called upon the international community to stand in solidarity with the oppressed people of Gaza.
