PIMA Gaza Medical Relief 2023-24

In response to the Israeli bombardment and atrocities in Gaza, PIMA launched the Gaza relief campaign, aiming to support Gazans and raise awareness among Pakistani healthcare professionals about Israeli genocide. The campaign involves various activities, including fundraising for medical assistance and registering volunteer doctors in collaboration with Alkhidmat. PIMA has also organized Gaza solidarity demonstrations nationwide, in joint efforts with PMA and other professional bodies. Additionally, PIMA has held press conferences to spotlight the Israeli genocide targeting civilians, particularly doctors, healthcare workers, and hospitals.

PIMA donated 21 million rupees for medical supplies to Gaza hospitals. The donation was handed over to the Alkhidmat Foundation by Prof. Muhammad Afzal, in charge PIMA Relief. Mr. Abdul Shakoor, the vice president of Alkhidmat, received the cheque. Dr. Khubaib Shahid, Dr. Zahid Latif, Dr. Zaid Arif and others were also present on this occasion.

Doctors across Pakistan observed Black Day in response to a joint appeal by leading doctors’ associations, including PIMA, PMA, and YDA. These demonstrations took place in 11 locations in Karachi, as well as in Lahore, Sukkur, Abbottabad, Peshawar, Kohat, Hyderabad, and Kadhkot. Doctors, medical students, and paramedical staff participated in the protest by wearing black ribbon bands on their arms.

Doctors and allied healthcare professionals came together on Friday, November 10th, across the country in hospitals and institutions to express their support for the doctors and healthcare workers in Gaza who are persistently providing medical care under extremely challenging conditions, regardless of the risks to their lives.
