14th PIMA KPK biennial Convention 2015 held in Swat

Swat, 8 April 2015: 2-day long PIMA Khyber PK 14th biennial convention was held on 4-5 April 2015 at Saidu Medical College Swat. This well attended convention comprised on 7 sessions in addition of 2 parallel scientific sessions. Three pre convention workshops were also be the part of this event held on 3rd April at Swat. Topics of these workshops were BLS & ECG, advance cardiac life support (ACLS) and Essential Trauma Care conducted by Dr Samiullah & Dr Abdul Hadi, Dr Muhammad Asghar and Dr Muhammad Tayyab respectively.

Prof Hafeez Rehman, ex PIMA President presided the inaugural session. The main speaker of this session was Dr Shams ul Haq Hanif, Peshawar Medical College who addressed on “Tazkia e Nafs”. Dr Kamran Hassan, President PIMA KPK delivered opening remarks while Dr Intizar Hussain Butt briefed about POB activities.

An important session of the first day was a panel discussion on “KPK health care system, present and future”. Mr Anayatullah Khan, provincial minister highlighted the steps taken by the govt to improve the health care system in the province. Lack of doctors in remote areas can be resolved by starting the recruitment process on district level, he added. “We are taking practical steps to meet the lack of doctors and nurses and to provide latest equipment to the Govt hospitals”, he informed. He urges the doctor’s community to make the selfless services their mission as the role model of a common man in the society. The other participants of this session were Prof Sohail Akhtar, central PIMA President, Prof Muhammad Iqbal Khan, VC Shifa Tameer e Millat University and Dr Hafiz Ihsan, ex health secretary. The PMDC accredited scientific sessions on Medicine & allied and Surgery & Allied were also held on the first day.

On second day, Dr Fazal e Azeem, incharge PIMA Tibbi Fiqhi Board presented the Dars e Hadith on 6th session while a motivational talk on “Patient First” delivered by Dr Zakiuddin Ahmad, CEO eHealth services. Dr Habib ur Rehman Asim, Islamic International University addressed on the theme of the convention “وانک لعلیٰ خلق عظیم” while Prof Najib ul Haq, Peshawar Medical College stated the importance and requirements of reciting Quran in 7th session.

The concluding business session was the announcement of newly elected procinvial president and cabinet. According to the results, announced by Dr Faiz ur Rehman, election commissioner, PIMA KPK members elected Dr Muhammad Subhan from Peshawar Medical College as the next president of PIMA KPK. He took the oath and then led the oath to other cabinet members.
