Peshawar, 8 August 2016: The second phase of the PIMA health and hygiene promotion project, Peshawar started on 4th September 2016. More than 1514 people of village Landi Daudizai were briefed and trained about the usage of safe and clean drinking water, personal hygiene to control of water borne diseases during the first phase from 27 May to 8 August 2016.
PIMA teams also highlighting the purification methods i.e. boiling and solar disinfection of water through health and hygiene session at doorstep level. Audience is being briefed through practical about hand washing at critical times, practical demonstration of hand washing through approved six steps of WHO including importance of toothpaste and Maswaak, cutting of nails once a week, taking bath on daily basis, changing clothes after every two days, proper cutting of hair, proper disposal of garbage, covering of stagnant water with mud or sand, proper covering of food stuff and utensils, the use of latrine and discouraging open air defecation, washing of vegetables before cooking, fruits before eating and boiling of milk before drinking.
